Star-Awards-2023

As Tay Ying cheers on fellow actors, including her mother, Hong Huifang, at the Star Awards 2023

He Yingying and Jin Yinji both appeared in dramas such as Dark Angel and Healing Heroes, but did not meet the minimum requirement of appearing in 30 episodes across all eligible programs.

Tay Ying, 27, who signed on as a full-time artiste with Mediacorp in January 2022, also failed to make the cut.

In 2022, Tay Ying did not appear in any Mediacorp dramas, according to her artiste portfolio. Although Tay Ying stars in the new Mediacorp thriller Silent Walls, the drama is not eligible for this year’s Star Awards. She shared her thoughts on not being nominated on her Instagram Story last week.

According to her post, “It took me some time to accept that maybe my breakthrough this year will not come in the form of nominations or awards, but that’s alright because a breakthrough is a breakthrough regardless,” she wrote.

The last time Tay Ying was nominated at the Star Awards was in 2021, when she was up for the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes award.

Tay Ying, who is clearly a good sport, encouraged her followers to vote for her peers instead.

This being said, I hope you will vote for these very special people that I am extremely proud of. My friends have been nominated, and for some, it is their first nomination. A very proud and happy [for] all your achievements,” Tay Ying wrote. Then she mentioned celebs such as Ze Liang, Kiki Lim, Hazelle Teo, Das DD, Denise Camillia Tan, Zhai Siming, Wang Wenhui, and her mother, Hong Huifang.

Siming and Huifang are nominated for the Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female artistes, whereas Ze Liang, Kiki, Hazelle, Weenhui and Das DD are nominated for the Most Popular Rising Star award. There are a number of celebs who fell through the gaps at this year’s Star Awards despite the fact that there are 114 artistes up for 23 awards.

Several didn’t make the cut because they didn’t appear in enough Mediacorp productions.
