Skin care routines on the red carpet: Exercises and peels
In preparation for the Oscars red carpet on Sunday (Mar 12), celebrities will use a range of skincare routines, including facial workouts and laser peels.
As Hollywood’s top awards ceremony approaches, aestheticians, dermatologists, and other beauty teams are preparing their clients.
A popular regimen used by celebrities like Kerry Washington and Chelsea Handler is FaceGym, which describes itself as “the home of facial fitness”.
Gianna Graham, FaceGym’s coach and trainer, told Reuters at one of the brand’s New York studios: “Just like going to the gym to work out your body and transform your body, you can do the same with your face and the 40-plus muscles we have in our face.”
In the background, a trainer gently massaged, rolled a ball, and used an electric muscle stimulation device on a client.
It reaches parts of the face that our hands cannot reach, so it will work out the micro muscles as well as the regular ones.
There will be more hydration and smoothness under the skin. Dark circles under the eyes will fade away. Overall, the lift is what (celebrities) like to see. That sculpt is fantastic for (the camera).”
Weiser Skin offers the popular Hollywood Laser Peel, which uses liquid carbon.
“It’s a great option for right before a red carpet event,” dermatologist Dr. Jessica Weiser said.
With the laser, the carbon will come off, removing a dead layer of skin with it. This mimics the effects of a chemical peel without any downtime, redness, or peeling.
Aesthetician Bianca Edwards, who once gave Floyd Mayweather a US$5,000 facial, says she sees clients twice a week before major events.
“I’d want to bring them in and do something like this first,” she told Reuters.
